Interoperability between software – Complex geometries from Rhino to Revit

ICC Level 4

This workshop takes life from the idea that you should be able to approach Design with your preference of software and make them communicate with each other to develop different aspects of the project through different tools. In this workshop we’ll dig deeper into the possibilities of collaboration between two major design software: McNeel’s Rhinoceros and Autodesk Revit. We’ll see possible workflows to successfully bring into Revit elements designed in Rhino, as native Revit elements.
You will learn some basic feature of Grasshopper that will help you start your design of complex geometries. You will be understanding the logic behind the collaboration between software and some efficient ways of bringing information from one tool to the other. What to export from Rhino and how to import in Revit.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn the basics of Grasshopper
  • Learn how to set up a structure for the communication between software
  • Learn different methods for software interoperability
